Bulgaria state railways’ new management outlines priorities

Sofia. “Improvement of the financial results of the Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) is the major engagement of the new management of the holding,” the new management of the state-run railway operator announced at a press conference of the BDZ Holding, FOCUS News Agency reporter informed.
“We hope that we will manage to reschedule the payments and take a breath in this direction. We have a plan and we are waiting for an approval. BDZ is a company that employs more than 10,000 people,” said Hristiyan Krastev, executive director of BDZ.
“We have worked out a plan, which envisages short-term and long-term measures for 2013-2020,” he added.
“The front-burner problems are connected to the Passenger’s Service. This includes, for instance, the quality and the number of the carriages,” Krastev pointed out, adding that BDZ Holding was also trying to boost the assets and revenues of the BDZ – Freight Services and of the BDZ as a whole.
